Leona LaurenLeona Louise Lewis was born 3 April 1985 is an actress an activist, singer and actress of British origin. Born within the London Borough of Islington, she attended the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology located in Croydon. Lewis gained the attention of the nation when she was crowned the third season of The X Factor in 2006. Also, she was awarded a PS1 million recording contract with Syco Music. The winning single that was a cover of the song of Kelly Clarkson "A Moment Like This" which was downloaded by 50,000 people within 30 minutes. It also peaked at number 1 for 4 weeks. Clive Davis, Lewis's American record label J Records signed Lewis a five-album contract in February of 2007. The success of Lewis continued after the release of her first album of her own, Spirit (2007), which received a platinum certification of 10x in the UK and was subsequently the fourth best-selling album of the decade and among the top-selling albums of UK chart record-setting. As per the Official Charts Company, Spirit is the best-selling debut album released by a female artist during the 21st century. The first single, "Bleeding Love", had a run of seven weeks at the top of the charts at one in the UK and was also the top-selling single of 2007. Also, it was the biggest-sold single sold in the US in the year. Lewis won the Billboard Best New Artist Award subsequent year. Echo was her sophomore studio album. Lewis also composed the song "I Love You" to accompany Avatar. Lewis also debuted "Collide," a joint collaboration along with Swedish DJ Avicii. In 2011 she also released Hurt, the extended play that was the first single from her album. Glassheart (2012) was her third studio album. The album was inspired by electronic and dubstep music. While on her Glassheart Tour in 2013, she began recording songs for her debut Christmas album. Christmas with Love came out later in the year and its lead single, "One More Sleep" was a top three hit within the UK. This chart entry led to Lewis her the only British independent female musician to achieve the top fivespot, with eight singles. Lewis also surpasses Olivia Newton John's record of seven.
