Catherine Ford is a British actress, born in Bloomsbury. After her father's departure from the household, the actress was brought up by her mother godparents, and grandmother. When she was a infant, Ford struggled with anxious disorders, obsessive/compulsive and was afflicted by word associations. Ford started to become attracted to acting at the age of teenager and enrolled in the National Youth Theatre. Ford gained entry to the Sylvia Young Theatre School, but decided after a week that she would not be a good choice for this school. Ford applied again to Central School of Speech and Drama and, on her fourth attempt, she was finally admitted. Shaun Dingwall would play Pete Tyler who is a character that was recurring for Doctor Who. Ford didn't finish her studies until 1993. In 1991, however, Ford had made her first television appearance in an episode of Surgical Spirit. At that point, Ford adopted the stage name Catherine Tate. Through the Nineties, Tate could be seen on television in programmes including The Bill, Men Behaving Badly and London's Burning. She also worked regularly in theatres, before eventually being a part of with the Royal Shakespeare Company for its 2000-2001 season. Tate gained not long after her recognition for her stand-up comedies, that were added to her selection in the year 1996.
