Awkwafina Awkwafina, an American performer and actress, started with a series of rap songs dealing with issues related to race and sexuality. Her career expanded to Hollywood after she released an album of raps. Nora Lum is the daughter of Chinese as well as Korean parents in Forest Hills Queens. The trumpet was her first instrument. Following her Jazz and classical training, she delved into hip-hop when she was an teen. In the college years, she remained focused on her studies. She majored both in women's study and journalism. In a short period during her time in Beijing, Mandarin language classes were offered as well. After graduation, her focus shift to music. Her track in 2012 My Vag a response to Mickey Avalon's My Dick found viral success through the Internet before settling on her debut LP Yellow Ranger in 2014. The album also featured viral hit tracks like body-positive Queef and winking tour of her home NYC Bitche$1. The track that was published is directly linked to the album The Awkwafinas Guide to NYC, her travel guide for 2015. She decided to pursue a career as an actor following the completion of her previous two projects, as an author and musician. Alongside early TV shows such as Girl Code and Tawk she was also featured in movies like Neighbors 2 Storks and Bad Rap. She had a breakthrough role in 2018 with a few movies that were highly regarded, such as Dude Ocean's 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. In June, she debuted her new EP "In Fina We Trust".
